Whitney Bennett, 17 Whitney is currently headed into her senior year of high school in Aberdeen, North Carolina and plans to double major in theatre and physical education. Even though she's not going directly into an environmental field, the environment is extremely important to her. She says "The environment is constantly giving, but we rarely give back and that needs to change." She believes that everyone can put in their part even if, like her, their career doesn't directly involve the ocean/environment. It upsets her that so many people take the world around them for granted and are disrespectful to unborn generations who will have to live with our irresponsible actions. Because of this, she was extremely motivated to help start Elimiwaste as an effort to clean the world. "I want my four younger brothers to grow up in a world where fish still swim and forests still flourish."

Madeline Connowall, 17Madeline is going into her senior year of high school in Madison, Wisconsin. She has always been close with the environment and relatively aware about how important it is to protect it. Recently she has become especially inspired about considering a career path that would benefit the environment as well as future generations. She says "When I used to think about the future on earth for myself but more importantly the younger generations I would get really depressed and sad because it was hard to imagine one at all." But now that she has learned more about the possibilities for improving environmental conditions, her fear has transitioned to motivation and goal setting. Her hope is that scientists and environmentalists can spread their knowledge and goals to inspire people to join the movement of cleaning up the earth.
